The aim of this exciting course is to give the young actor a better understanding of how the industry works and to be better prepared & more confident when going to auditions.  Imagination and creativity are stressed, and the young actors are given many opportunities to become experienced working in front of a camera. Special focus will be given to:

Working in front of the camera with naturalness and confidence

Developing the young actor's focus and ability to take direction 

Learning about the film & television casting process

Preparing for the audition process and learning about the value of self-promotion                                                              
Discovering what Casting Directors and Talent Agents 'look for'

Meeting industry professionals

Actors will work on scenes and put their work into practice with special guest directors. Industry professionals including casting directors, directors and local talent agents are invited to attend each course to watch our participants in action.

Actors will work on improving their scene preparation, cold reading and improvisation techniques for auditions.  Actors will work on tackling a script, analyzing it and bringing their own unique qualities to each read.  Actors will work on improving their cold reading and improvisation techniques.  A variety of sides, covering different styles and characters are assigned over the course of eight weeks.  Each actor's work is recorded on tape, giving the actors the opportunity to learn from each other and to objectively examine their own work.  Participating actors are encouraged to bring sides for upcoming auditions to class.

Applicants may be asked to audition.  A full refund will be given to those who do not pass the audition phase.

    This course is for those who are interested in pursuing a career in broadcasting
    as a TV Host and/or Anchor/Reporter, as well as actors who want to expand their
    repertoire and improve their abilities to get cast in these specific roles, or for  
    anybody that has a general interest in television broadcasting.


    The aim of this course is to give participants a better understanding of how the   
    television industry works.  Participants will learn how to connect with the
    audience through the camera lens and how to create individual on-camera   
    presentation techniques that are necessary to each position
    (host/anchor/reporter). 


     Special focus will be given to:

  • Auditioning for the reporter/anchor role in a Television Series, MOW or
       Feature Film

  • Auditioning for a Host position in a TV Reality Series or TV Show

  • Working in front of the camera with naturalness, confidence &  
       professionalism

  • Finding the main point in a story

  • Preparing for the interview process and the techniques involved

  • Learning how to work with different types of news or story material

  • Discovering what it takes to be successful in the television industry

  • Learning the value of self-promotion (demo-tapes, resumes, agents,
       networking)

Students will work on story development & news scripts and put their work into practice on-camera.

      those who are just starting out.  The aim of this intensive workshop is to provide

      participants with an overview of information, tools and skills that are necessary
      for actors and parents of young actors to open that first door to the industry.

      This workshop will place emphasis on:

    Ø Knowing how to become a marketable actor with a dynamic portfolio (resumes,
          head shots, demo reels, etc.)

    Ø Finding the right talent agent without getting caught in a scam

    Ø Using the most effective self-promotional & networking tools

    Ø Learning the industry lingo commonly used on set and with other industry
          professionals
     
    Ø Understanding the audition & casting process, the function of the actors union
         (ACTRA), the importance of screen training, industry do's and don'ts & much
         more...
     
    This workshop is suitable for actors or parents of young actors that are just starting out in the business or for anyone with a general interest in the entertainment field.
