Story synopsis: A day in the life of a zamboni driver....This is
a short film that we want to pitch as a pilot for a series on
television or to get funding for a feature film follow-up. The
story revolves around a zamboni driver named. Bob and deals with
his daily struggles. Being a zamboni driver is every Canadian's
dream job but this film will show audiences what they really
have to put up with and how they deal with it. This story is a
comedy and the jokes are subtle but hilarious. Bob has spilt
coffee on the ice the night before this story takes place and is
waiting to hear about it from his boss. He doesn't care if he
gets fired because he has a crush on the front desk girl, Terra
who doesn't date co-workers. His fellow zamboni driver, David
realizes this and does not want Bob to quit or get fired so he
starts spreading rumours about Terra to convince Bob to stay
employed. Now Bob and David have to fix the ice before their
tough as nails boss fires them...or worse.
Roles wanted to fill: Bob aged 20-29
Working at the arena has been Bob's only job and its getting to
him. He used to be the 'ideal' worker but has turned so
disgruntled that he doesn't really care about anyone or anything
at work. Now he's short tempered and irate but keeps his job so
he can be close to Terra
David aged 20-29
David is Bob's best friend and has also only worked at the
arena. He's a simple person, he needs a ride to work from Bob
and he needs his weed. David is like the devil on Bob's shoulder
most times but he also has a way of putting things into
perspective for Bob. On the outside he's pretty harsh and vulgar
but always has a soft spot for his friends
Dick aged 35-50
Dick is a war hero from long ago but was honorably discharged.
No one knows why, apparently that's classified. Dick finds
himself being the manager of this small arena in charge of young
kids who are nothing but trouble. Because of this depressing
reality Dick has become an alcoholic.
Simon aged 20-29
Simon is the overnight janitor at the arena. Although he doesn't
interact with a lot of employees he seems to know everything
that's going on. He's neutral and doesn't take sides but is
always a good source of information (gossip).
Other comments: We're looking for actors who are looking for
experience so that means that this is on a volunteer basis. What
we will do is organize transportation and provide food for the
shoot. We are aiming to shoot at the end of July and it should
only take a maximum of 5 days to shoot. All the locations will
be in the east end.
