Story synopsis: Inviting submissions from actors interested in
auditioning for Saviour Complex. A short, independently
produced, experimental film by award winning experimental
filmmaker and video artist Ariel Smith.
Saviour Complex is a short, experimental, 16mm film that
explores the unspoken politics and shifting power dynamics
between a teenage, street level sex trade worker and her
clients. Visceral and disturbing, Saviour Complex drags the
audience into a cinematic nightmare by offering an answer to the
question "what's a nice girl like you doing in a place like
this?"
Savior Complex will use a highly stylized visual approach, no
dialogue, poetic voice-over, rhythmic montage and an
experimental sound-scape to examine the often thin line between
exploiters and exploited.
All actors must be able to portray a great deal of physicality
in their roles without the use of dialogue and must be
comfortable participating in a film with adult themes. Alice
and her 3 clients must be comfortable participating in scenes
with implied sexual contact. No actual nudity is required.

Description: Open to all backgrounds and body types. Alice is a
tough and beautiful street level sex trade worker who exists in
a surrealist and nightmarish universe. She is the heroin of our
story. She is the embodiment of rage and the personification
of righteousness. She smashes a hole in the hooker with a heart
of gold archetype, by being the complete opposite. She is here
to make us all aware of our false sense of entitlement as we
gain a glimpse into her self-determined redemption and explosive
personal exorcism.

Description: Open to all backgrounds and body types. The 3
client characters in Saviour Complex are mutated businessmen
epitomes, often visually represented in fragments. We see at
times only part of them, their hand, their leg, their crotch,
their wallet. You can smell the false sense of entitlement off
these men from a mile away. They are "Saviour Tricks". The
kind of clients who want to be a working girls hero; who want to
deliver her from what they view as her hellish life. The kind
of clients who have watched Pretty Woman one too many times.
The kind of men who look down on Alice while simultaneously
craving her degradation through their own.

Double Dutch Girls be able to perform double Dutch and other
jump rope games as well as hand clapping games. Please note
that child actors will not be on set during any scenes
containing adult situations.

small cash honorarium along with craft services, credit,
transportation assistance and a copy of their performance for
