Valley Wind Productions is currently casting its latest feature,

Legend of Oz is a modern evolution of the classic children's tale "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum. -- When a powerless and unassuming girl named Dot is transported from her foster parents' farm in a martial-law state to the broken Empire of Oz, her quest to get home finds her teaming up with bizarre companions and squaring off against wicked tyrants in a fight beyond anything she thought herself capable of.

Lead roles being cast include:

Dot* – A twenty(ish) ‘every girl’, destined to be a legend. Youthful, athletic, energetic. 18+.

Fright* – A genetically engineered pseudo-human.  A thin and somewhat awkward sort, he’s Dot’s first companion and a clueless know-it-all. Male. 18-30.

Circuit* – A Cyborg with the body of a machine and soul of a man. Tall, strong and brooding, he becomes Dot’s second companion.  Male. 30s/40s.

Savage* – A human-lion hybrid right out of Dr. Moreau’s island. Quick, agile, bearing a sarcastic wit, Savage is Dot’s third companion. Male. 20s.

Plus an array of secondary characters Dot will meet including the despotic witches* (female, 20s), the cryptically named Wizard (male, 30s), Em and Henry (male/female, 40+), the various denizens of Oz (male/female, many ages), and the Winged Monkeys/Wheelers/Winkies* (male/female, 18+, fighters).

* Fight training/martial arts/dance or similar will be a plus.

Legend of Oz will be shot on location in Ottawa, ON and surrounding areas starting in mid-July and running through August. Shooting will take place primarily on weekends (Sat/Sun). Cast will be expected to be able to maintain flexible schedules during that period (leads should expect to be on set up to 80% of the time) plus for other commitments (rehearsals, fight training, etc).

Auditions start on Saturday March 14, and continue for three weekends with additional days scheduled if needed. Actors of all experience and disciplines are welcome but this is a non-union opportunity.
