"Addicted"

The script tells a story of a young film maker, who, after many years of aspiring to break into the film industry, and failing, has turned to drugs and alcohol for comfort.  Frustrated with life, he decides to make a documentary of his professional and personal troubles depicting his relationships with his family, friends, and ultimately himself.
 
Characters
 
Melanie – Age: between 25-30 years old.  She is the understanding girlfriend who has a drug and alcohol addition.  She has deep seeded emotional issues which cause her to cut herself in an attempt to deal with her problems.
 
Jeremy – Age: between 25-30 years old.  He is a good natured, well liked guy who is addicted to drugs and alcohol.
 
Doug – Age: between 25-30 years old. He is a hard-working guy who is addicted to drugs and alcohol.
 
Hank – Age: between 25-30 years old. He is the video technician who is helping put the film together.
 
Jim – Age: 25-30 years old.  He is the understanding friend who attempts to help his friends get clean from their drug and alcohol addictions.
 
Priest – Age: between 40-55 years old.  A priest is needed to take a confession.  The priest will appear on screen, but it is imperative that dialogue can be well delivered while off screen.
 
Darlene – Age: between 35-50 years old. She is the main character’s work supervisor who is naïve, friendly, and bubbly.
 
Mike – Age: between 40-50 years old. He is the main character’s employer who is a stern, no nonsense disciplinarian.
 
Drug Dealer – Age: 25-35 years old. The drug dealer will be briefly on screen, but excellent off screen delivery of dialogue is required.
 
Party Guy – Age: 25-30 years old.  He is a guy at a party who is funny, and who’s character is used as a brief comic relief in a serious film.
 
Filming Dates: June 16 & June 17, 2007
 
Submission Deadline: ASAP
 
This is a short film that will be filmed in the Ottawa area using a professional crew. We are planning on submitting this film to major film festivals around the world, and we are therefore seeking local talented actors who will take their roles and this film seriously.
